<p>Former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi once again criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central government for not 'effectively' handling the pandemic and continuing with work on the ambitious Central Vista project at the time when citizens are grappling with the deadly second wave of Covid-19.</p> <p>Taking to his official social media account on Wednesday, the top Congress leader tweeted, "Central Vista- not essential. The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday morning reported that the country lodged as many as 3,60,960 new cases of Covid-19 in last 24 hours, pushing the tally to 1,79,97,267.</p> <p><strong>Central Vista Revamp Project</strong></p> <p>The Central Vista revamp, announced in September, 2019 envisages a new triangular Parliament building, with seating capacity for 900 to 1,200 MPs, that is to be constructed by August, 2022 when the country will be celebrating its 75th Independence Day.</p> <p>The common Central Secretariat is likely to be built by 2024 under the project against which various pleas have been filed.</p> <p><strong>ALSO READ | <a href="https://ift.tt/3ntd2q1 Vista Project: SC Gives A Go-Ahead To Redevelopment Plan Of Parliament Building</a></strong></p> <p>The Supreme Court earlier this year gave a go-ahead to the redevelopment plan of the Central Vista project as it pronounced its verdict on the petitions challenging the validity of the Centre's plan.
