<p>As the country reels with the havoc by the second wave of Coronavirus, India registered<span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0"> 3,79,257 new </span><span class="r-18u37iz">COVID19</span><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0"> cases, 3645 deaths and 2,69,507 discharges in the last 24 hours, as per Union Health Ministry.</span></p> <p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">Total cases: 1,83,76,524 </span></p> <p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">Total recoveries: 1,50,86,878 </span></p> <p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">Death toll: 2,04,832 </span></p> <p><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">Active cases: 30,84,814</span></p> <p>The<span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0"> Indian Council of Medical Research</span> informed that <span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">28,44,71,979 samples tested up to 28th April 2021, for </span><span class="r-18u37iz">COVID19</span><span class="css-901oao css-16my406 r-poiln3 r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0">. Of these, 17,68,190 samples were tested yesterday.</span></p> <div class="FirstEle"> <p>Maharashtra on Wednesday reported its Covid-19 highest death toll ever since the beginning of the pandemic with 985 more virus-related fatalities added in the last 24 hours. On Tuesday, the state had reported 895 deaths, the second-highest. The death toll from novel coronavirus infection has now reached 67,214, according to the health bulletin.</p> </div> <div class="paywall"> <p>Along with that, the state also reported 63,309 new Covid-19 cases in a day, taking the total tally to 44,73,394.</p> </div> <p>In a statement on Wednesday, the health ministry said that that 10 states – Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra – account for 67.26% of the cumulative coronavirus vaccine doses given so far in the country.</p> <p>The ministry also said that 10 states have reported 73.59% of India’s new cases registered in the last 24 hours. These are Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan.</p> <p>Similarly, 78.53% of the new deaths reported were from 10 states – Maharashtra, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh. Five states and Union Territories did not report any Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours, the ministry said.</p>
