<p>Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday claimed that party worker Gopal Majumdar's mother Shova Majumdar succumbed to her injuries, a month after being allegedly attacked by some Trinamool Congress (TMC) members in Nimta area of West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district.</p> <p>The unfortunate demise of the 85-year-old woman has triggered angry reactions from the party's top leaders including home minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda.</p> <p><strong>ALSO READ | <a href="https://ift.tt/3szzjEj! 16-Year-Old Rape Victim Made To Parade With Accused As Villagers Chant 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'</a></strong></p> <p>Taking to Twitter, party president Nadda said that the party will always remember her sacrifice for her son being in BJP. "I wish peace to Nimta's old mother Shobha Majumdar's soul. She had to sacrifice her life for her son Gopal Majumdar being in BJP. BJP will always remember her sacrifice. She was Bengal's 'mother' as well as its 'daughter'. BJP will always fight for the safety of Bengal's mothers and daughters," BJP leader tweeted.</p> <p>Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed grief over Shova Majumdar's demise saying her death will haunt West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for long.</p> <p>"Anguished over the demise of Bengal's daughter Shova Majumdar ji, who was brutally beaten by TMC goons. The pain &amp; wounds of her family will haunt Mamata didi for long. Bengal will fight for a violence-free tomorrow, Bengal will fight for a safer state for our sisters &amp; mothers," Shah said in a post on the microblogging site.</p> <p>According to reports, a senior police officer of the Barrackpore Commissionerate had on February 27 said that the elderly woman was attacked by unidentified persons in North Dumdum in Nimta police station area.</p> <p><strong>ALSO READ | <a href="https://ift.tt/3rwhzIR Goyal Says 'No Attack' On Nuns In UP; Targets Kerala CM For Making 'False Statements'</a></strong></p> <p>However, in a video earlier shared by news agency ANI, Gopal's mother had accused TMC workers of attacking her head and neck. "They hit me on my head and neck. They punched me on my face too. I am scared. They asked me not to tell anyone about it. My whole body is in pain," the octogenarian mother alleged. She was being treated at a private hospital and had returned to her home four days ago.</p> <p>Meanwhile, the ruling party TMC has however denied the allegations and asked the saffron party to not peddle narratives politicise the death of the woman.</p> <p>TMC's Rajya Sabha MP and spokesperson Derek O'Brien said the leaders should show some respect to the investigative process.</p>
