<p><strong>New Delhi: </strong>After about 54 students tested positive for the coronavirus on Saturday Andhra University (AU) Engineering College in Visakhapatnam turned a block in the hostel into an isolation ward. </p> <p>By Sunday, the number increased to 102 according to a report by The News Minute, which includes 96 are male students, one is a female student and five are staff members. Andhra Medical College principal PV Sudhakar said the spread on the AU Engineering College campus is due to non-adherence to Covid Appropriate Behaviour by students according to the report.</p> <p>Meanwhile, State Minister for Tourism MS Srinivasa Rao visited the University to take stock of the situation he said that all measures were being taken to provide care for the students. He was quoted in The News Minute as saying, “The district authorities are taking all the necessary measures to treat those who have been infected with the virus. Isolation blocks have been arranged and the required COVID-19 kits have been distributed. Parents need not worry."</p> <p>About 550 beds at King George Hospital and 650 beds at the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) have been made available in case of any emergency according to media reports.</p> <p>As per the Department of Health and Family Welfare’s latest bulletin, 5,394 patients are under treatment for Covid-19 in Andhra Pradesh. </p>
