Watch | After 11 Years Of Service 'Sniffer Spike' Retires From Service; Special Farewell By Nashik Police

<p><strong>Nashik:&nbsp;</strong>'Sniffer Spike' served with Nashik Police for 11 years before he retired on Friday. The Nashik Police gave him a special farewell as he had become a part of the family. Spike was trained for sniffing out explosives and for 11 years he worked tirelessly with the police.</p> <p>Anil Deshmukh, Home Minister of Maharashtra, shared tweets thanking Spike for his service. He shared a video from the farewell and said "He was not just a canine but had become a part of police family. Labradors usually considered a gentle yet very active breed. They are also known for their exceptionally strong nose. Hence, Labs are now being trained to detect Covid-19 along with cocker spaniels.</blockquote> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet">Recently, there has been an increase in the demand to use 'Desi' dogs for service. The Indian Air Force will now train Mudhol Hound, an Indian breed of sight hound native to Karnataka to chase away birds and animals that wander into the runaways and reduce risk of bird-hits. The Mudhol Hound, according to experts are best known for its stamina, sharpness and agility making them excellent hunting dogs.</blockquote>
