<p style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Assam Assembly Election 2021 Full Schedule Announced: </strong>Polling season is upon us as the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for the Assembly Elections of 4 states and one Union Territory. In a press conference held on Friday, ECI announced that Assam will go to the polls along with West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pudducherry.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">The five-year term of the 126-member Assam assembly is set to expire on May 31, 2021, and the state would go to the polls in three phases, starting March 27. Counting of votes and result announcement will be done on May 2.</p> <h3 style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>POLL SCHEDULE</strong></span></h3> <p><strong>Polling Dates: Starting March 27 (3 Phases)</strong></p> <p><strong>1st phase (47 assembly seats) - March 27</strong></p> <p><strong>2nd phase (39 assembly seats) - April 1<br /></strong></p> <p><strong>3rd phase (40 assembly seats) - April 6&nbsp;</strong></p> <p><strong>Counting of Votes and Result:</strong> <strong>May 2</strong></p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">The BJP is campaigning aggressively to retain power in Assam, where it won for the first time in 2016, by dethroning the Congress. It is confident of returning to power in Assam once again with 100 plus seats in the 126-member assembly.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">The Congress has formed a grand alliance with perfume baron Badruddin Ajmal&rsquo;s All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and four other parties.</p> <p style="font-weight: 400;">The BJP had fought the 2016 Assam polls in alliance with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the Bodoland People&rsquo;s Front (BPF). It handsomely won 60 of the 89 and the AGP 14 of the 30 seats.</p>
